The AV Kodungallur is situated in 5 acres of land with building occupying almost an acre. The building comprises of two academic blocks. It has state of the art facilities that provide an ambience in stimulating intellectual thinking and academic interaction. History of Amrita Vidyalayam Kodungallur

Amrita Vidyalayams are a chain of value based schools which are managed by Mata Amritanandamayi Math. Many years ago, as Amma pondered over the calamity that humanity is headed for due to the dearth of values, a group of devotees from Kodungallur, Kerala, approached Her with an appeal to start a school in their home town. Perceiving in this a means to influence the future generation by restoring value-based education for children and to guide the world towards peace and harmony, She agreed. Thus the first educational endeavour of the Mata Amritanandamayi Math came into effect on June 1, 1987 with the establishment of an English medium school at Kodungallur named Amrita Vidyalayam (AV).

Gradually, more Amrita Vidyalayam schools were started in many other places as well, both within Kerala and outside the state. Most of the schools in Kerala are affiliated to the CBSE. One school in Kerala is affiliated to ICSE. Most of the AV schools in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra follow the curriculum of the respective state educational departments and boards.

Affiliated to the CBSE, New Delhi - CBSE/Aff./EX-01094-0910/930067/2009/192582, AV Kodungallur follows a system of continuous evaluation that covers both the scholastic and non-scholastic aspects of student’s growth of classes from 1 to XII.

Curriculum adds qualitative content beyond the prescribed syllabus; maximises students’ progress in intellectual, spiritual, emotional, physical, cultural and artistic fields; emphasizes activity-based and experiential learning and focuses on self-exploration and learning through co-scholastic activities and frequent educational outings.

AV Kodungallur seeks to develop in their students the ability to think beyond the boundaries of the classroom walls, the text in the books and the exam marks. In fact the objective is to shape a child’s mind to learn not just for the grade he is in, but to learn for life.

Right from the start to the senior secondary level, the goal is to promote need based learning of not just the standard subjects but also life skills like value education, fitness, etiquette and team work.
